Personalize your jewelry by creating a unique keepsake made from your own horse's tail hair.
Horse Tail Requirements
Please send a ponytail of washed horse tail (about the size of your pinky finger secured with a rubber band). To create a 16” braid, I would need a minimum of 22” of tail hair. All remaining hair will be returned to you with the finished piece. For those who do not have a horse, I have an inventory of completed braided horse hair .
Braided Tail Hair
Samples shown are an 8-strand square braided design, 4mm thick and finished with handmade end caps. On average, the braid is 15" long. Add chain and clasp and the completed necklace would be 18" to 20" (customer to specify). Like most horse hair jewelry that is simply glued into the end cap, I literally hand stitch sterling wire to the hair using nylon thread and then use glue. The wire is guided through the end cap and looped to accommodate the cable chain and trigger clasp. Extremely durable!
